Prepares retirement plan documents, amendments and funding documents for 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), 457, and NQDC plans. Staff at this level are assigned straightforward plans and receive instruction, guidance and direction from more senior specialists.
Responsibilities
- Prepare plan documents, summary plan descriptions, amendments and funding documents for new and existing clients; verify accrued benefits are protected, system issues identified and documents are congruent with system setup.
- Consult with clients, client counsel, advisors, Client Management and Client Transition/Installation Services, and other operational areas regarding plan design changes, business risks and other issues to accommodate client goals and objectives.
- Consult with outside counsel or senior management regarding requested contract and service agreement changes.
- Research specific client plan design/compliance situations as assigned.
- Review, analyze and consult on plan mergers and spin-offs to ensure accrued benefits are protected; identify potential system conflicts.
- Develop plan filing packages for IRS determination letters.
- May assist with plan terminations by assessing status of terminated/abandoned plans; develop and implement project plan, prepare plan termination resolutions, amendments and filing packages for submission to regulatory authorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent education/experience.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency using MS Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pension or retirement plans.
- Knowledge of Transamerica products and administrative capabilities.

Responsibilities
Provide quantitative and qualitative analytical support to the Trust Company’s oversight responsibility, including: 1) Produce timely and accurate analytical reports, on an as-needed basis; 2) Assist with new manager searches and screening; 3) Assist with monitoring of existing manager performance; 4) Provide insight and ideas regarding potential new products.
Lead investment presentations to distribution, client groups (e.g. consultants, home office representatives), and Board of Trustees, as assigned.
Participate in strategic analysis of new investment concepts and market developments to be used potentially in new product development.
Participate in competitive analysis and assist in producing reports for senior management and business units.
Assist with miscellaneous sub-advisor/investment projects as assigned, working with members of the fund accounting, operations, compliance and legal departments.
Build relationships with sub-advisors to enhance fund monitoring.
As needed, participate and contribute to committees within Transamerica Trust Company, including the Investment Committee and Board. Ask questions of sub-advisors to assist in the Board's review of investment managers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in investment/finance-related field (economics, finance, accounting, etc.)
Five years of investment analyst or related experience
CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation
In-depth knowledge of securities and mutual fund industry
Ability to write clearly and concisely in a variety of business-related formats
Effective interpersonal communications skills
Highly ethical and professional demeanor
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or related Master’s degree
Familiarity with investment databases, including Morningstar, FactSet, and eVestment
Securities research experience, ideally focused on investment manager research
Working Conditions
Work From Home/Remote
Moderate travel to visit new and current investment managers at various locations.
