We’re Aegon - a company of ambitious, collaborative, problem-solvers who get things done. We strive to make sure everyone that works for us feel seen, heard, and valued – so we’re looking for like-minded people to join us. We have three behaviours that are central to how we operate as a team and a business: we step up, we tune in and we’re a force for good.
We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.
The Job
The Audit function partners with the business to achieve our ambition of becoming UK’s leading Digital Platform Provider. We are an innovative function that reports to the Audit Committee to provide independent assurance over Aegon UK’s internal controls, risk management and governance. Assurance is provided through a series of audit engagements each year covering a wide range of internal functions and legal entities across the company. You will be integral in the delivery of the annual audit plan which provides the basis for a systematic, risk-based approach to evaluating and improving corporate governance, risk management and internal controls within Aegon UK.
As part of a Global Audit function, you will get the opportunity to work on implementing global strategies and you’ll be providing the skills and insight to understand the quality and effectiveness of the Aegon framework in an independent and objective way, reporting information to key stakeholders and governance forums. All while contributing to the successful execution of audit services in line with professional, company and functional standards.
We are passionate about developing our people and investing in their future, so we welcome ambitious people with a growth mindset.
In this role you will manage and deliver a portfolio of internal audit assignments in accordance with internal standards, the International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF) of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors and other relevant professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Be responsible for the completion and delivery of all audit assignments within assigned portfolio and the annual audit plan, including report delivery
Support the Head of Internal Audit (HIA) in managing the ongoing audit relationship with key customers in an assigned portfolio and building annual audit plans and provide quality risk and control advice to management
Manage the delivery of key internal Quality Assurance Improvement Program projects within the department as assigned
Deliver audits and other reviews in line with departmental quality standards and to agreed timescales. Identify practical remedial actions with management, agree action plans, produce high quality reports suitable for finalisation, and coordinate the final report for issue
Manage the resource planning for assignments in designated portfolios
Provide advice on controls and risk management as well as other consultancy services as required by the business and management taking part in key forums as required
While this is not a role with line management responsibilities, you will supervise and mentor Senior Auditors and Auditors during audit assignments
Support the Operations Manager in the development of standards and procedures, including methodology changes within the department
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Strong evidenced experience of the delivery of Audit assignments
Well versed at supervising and mentoring Audit team members
Exceptional experience of regulatory risk and enterprise risk management frameworks
Approach work in an Analytical and Methodical way
Be a fantastic communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to explain complex and sometimes challenging information in an easy to understand way with stakeholders at all levels
Desirable but not essential:
Experience working within Financial Services
Internal Audit professional qualification would be desirable. In lieu of a qualification or degree, applicants with relevant business experience will be considered
What’s in it for you?
A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%
A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance
34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)
We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.
The legal bits
We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.
