We’re a company of ambitious, collaborative, problem-solvers who get things done. Our mission is to help people achieve a lifetime of financial security, and we’re investing in innovation that can make people’s finances work harder. From a Digital Experience that gives one-stop access to a universe of investment opportunity – to retirement products that make wealth planning simple, easy and fulfilling – we’re dedicated to getting people closer to their financial goals every day.
We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.
Technology is at the centre of our organisation, it’s pivotal to the way we do business everyday and achieving our mission. Our technology organisation is transforming we want to change how we work, improve our technology architecture incrementally, be better at engineering, build out our data capability and drive innovation
The Technology Delivery organisation is responsible for technology and delivery for Retail, Workplace and Customer Care Value Streams, alongside the wider portfolio consisting of Regulatory, Finance, HR and Information Security related projects. This consists of both modern Digital and Data capabilities run in the Cloud, as well as current technologies that have enabled the business over many years.
To provide clear visibility of deliveries across the Technology Delivery organisation and deliver change through a transparent delivery model being inclusive of stakeholders and technology teams, we are now looking for Technology Owners to join us. In this role you will be responsible for delivering the technical capabilities required for the Value Stream, where you will understand the business drivers and priorities, as well as the Technology strategy, focusing on balancing the short and long term outcomes.
You will also work with co-leads and teams to safely and strategically accelerate the flow of work through the value stream. This is a complex task, again balancing between the short-term productivity with the long-term health of the value stream, as well as managing risks and dependencies across teams.
This is the major difference in the shift to Product thinking. It's not just about creating a superior product or service, it’s also about building the infrastructure and capacity to deliver a continuously improving product or service for the product lifetime. With this long term view of product, cultivation and maintenance of the value stream must be prioritised against just delivering new features. You will also be responsible for:
- Leading complex solution planning and execution to meet customer needs, in collaboration with the Value Stream leadership team, delivering high-value changes incrementally.
- Identifying and developing necessary skills within the value stream team.
- Act as an escalation point, removing blockers and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Foster a customer-focused environment, breaking down barriers between teams and departments.
- Stay updated on industry trends and recommend tools/technologies for improvement.
- Inspire and champion technology, enabling delivery teams to build exceptional products and helping business leaders gain a deeper understanding of the underlying technology.
- Embed a culture for efficient delivery within technology, driving a mindset shift across technology and the wider organisation.
- Ensure stakeholders such as Information Security, Technology Risk are engaged as part of Software Development Lifecycle.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in working in agile and traditional delivery methods with a broad understanding across all areas of the SDLC to allow effective delivery and reporting.
- Proven technical programme management experience in taking major technology deliveries from idea to implementation with the ability to context switch between multiple major priorities.
- Experience in managing teams across multiple locations.
- Experience in managing multiple stakeholders at senior levels of a large organisation.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources are not in direct management control.
- An entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to deconstruct and solve problems, to investigate drivers and figure out why things happen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to act as a conduit between technical and business teams.
What’s in it for you?
- A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%
- A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance
- 34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)
We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our staff live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.
Transformation change is never easy and if this excites you as much as it does us we would love to hear from you.
